It can be challenging for a child to process what’s going on in their head and all the physical sensations in their body. Children have a hard time expressing and understanding what they are feeling; like why their stomach hurts, why they have trouble sleeping, and why going to school might feel scary.
I am incredibly passionate about children’s mental health. I aim to give children the tools to share what they are feeling and I achieve this through the technique of therapeutic play. Most importantly, I will let the child know that these confusing feelings are okay. I keep the parents involved with children 12 and under for a few minutes each session to go over coping strategies, behaviours, or address your concerns.
